Goal 7: Planning and Communication. Posted by CIFAdmin on Monday, February 07, 2005 (PST) Develop South Lincoln County’s communities through appropriate planning, zoning, ordinances, and regulations, including adequate housing and efficient public services. Strategy 7.1 Support planned development of communities though zoning and ordinances Support planned development of communities though zoning, ordinances, and demonstration projects.  Strategy 7.2 Support improved communication with communities and residents in Urban Growth Boundary On occasion, cities find it necessary to annex properties in unincorporated areas, particularly when densities require homes to be hooked up to municipal sewer systems.    When these efforts are considered or underway, the residents and property owners affected need to be informed.  The majority of South County residents live in unincorporated areas. Strategy 7.3 Support the continued sharing of resources, such as public works and planning staff. The cities of Waldport and Yachats have found collaboration maximizes scarce resources and bolsters joint efforts. Strategy 7.4 Support the scheduling of joint Waldport-Yachats city council meetings. Joint meetings can enhance communication and allow for exploration of new initiatives and ideas. Strategy 7.5 Support the Community Issues Forum of South County This group is comprised of volunteers from all over the South County, and monthly information-sharing and planning have helped lead to new initiatives.   This kind of information-sharing can help in the successful procurement of grants for worthy projects in South County.
